Would you like to see real progress in autism treatment in just three weeks? What a joy it is to see tears of happiness in the eyes of exhausted parents! Success can be planned by booking a ticket to the Indian city of Hyderabad. A unique doctor of biomedicine with 20 years of experience in this field promises to thoroughly understand the root of the problem and solve it step by step.
Read our interview with Dr. Saxena. In his opinion, the most painful part of the diagnosis is not the conclusion itself, but the time lost after it. While families go in circles trying to manage symptoms, this biomedical intervention specialist asserts that the main battle must take place at the metabolic level. The goal of biomedical autism recovery is to eliminate blocks, fill deficiencies, and stabilize the system. Only then can the brain and body respond. This step-by-step metabolic reset begins with restoring gut health and biochemistry.

— What is the essence of your understanding of autism and why does your approach work?
— The fact is, we have managed to understand that autism is not just genetics. There are so-called environmental triggers that disrupt normal processes in the body. I began to deeply study biomedical intervention or simply biomed. For me, it became a way to connect physiology and biochemistry.
Any doctor understands what biochemistry and physiology are, but in the case of autism spectrum disorder, we saw that many threads were not connected properly. For example, one of the problems was Vitamin A assimilation.
As soon as we started working through these biochemical imbalances… let’s take fats, everyone knows about them now. In fatty acids, there is linoleic acid. Normally, it should convert to gamma-linoleic acid. In autism, this conversion process is often disrupted.
Or take vitamins, for example, folic acid. It is prescribed to almost everyone during pregnancy. But many people have problems with it. In this syndrome, the conversion from folic acid to folinic acid is blocked. We began working with the MTHFR gene and what is known as the methylation cycle. We see that in most patients, this cycle is disrupted. There are also questions regarding glutathione. Everyone knows it is used for cosmetic skin whitening, but it is not just a cosmetic. The body produces its own glutathione, and children with autism often have a deficiency.
If I can correct these biochemical deficits, I can correct the physiology. A cell can be imagined as a round structure. All nutrients—sodium, glucose—approach its wall, the membrane. If this wall is impermeable, if it does not allow nutrients to enter the cell, things are bad. This is exactly what happens in most cases we consider mitochondrial disease. The mitochondria are affected, and to be precise, it is called mitochondrial cytopathy. I work specifically with that.
— Do you use only medications?
— We do not rely solely on drugs that only mask symptoms. For example, neuroleptics are often given to reduce hyperactivity. How long are you going to give them to keep the child in a static state? Some children even start having seizures while taking them, and then the question arises—how long do you give anti-seizure medications? This is a dead-end approach; it does not solve the root of the problem.
When we work with the basics, we look at the gut. We call the intestinal flora the second brain. If we can manage that properly and restore physiology and biochemistry, that is a true biomedical approach. Unfortunately, many pediatricians are not aware of it. Simply by introducing certain dietary restrictions and biomed protocols, huge progress can be made. And not just with autism — we work with ADHD, allergies, and asthma. Diet and our approach yield excellent results.
— How long have you been working with autism?
— More than 20 years. I have collaborated with the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and the Autism Research Institute ARI. I have brainstormed with many specialists. For me, it has been a long learning journey; coming from radiology, I now manage almost all chronic diseases through this approach. The results are fabulous.
Previously, we considered autism a developmental issue and thought that only behavioral therapy, speech therapy, and sensory integration would help. But you can spend years on speech therapy alone with minimal dividends.
— What exactly does your approach for children with autism include?
— I work with the so-called PK protocol. It can be described as a deep detoxification of the body. The first task is to stabilize cell membranes. Most patients have an issue with the blood-brain barrier, where inflow and outflow are disrupted. We fix that first, then use hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which many know as a HBOT or oxygen chamber. We also conduct simple detoxes, removing lead and mercury. This makes a huge difference. This is what centers for functional and integrative medicine in the US are doing now, working according to DAN! and MedMaps protocols.
— Tell us a few stories. For example, when a child starts to speak or recognize loved ones?
— We never promise parents at the start that the child will speak within 21 days. Но we have over 70–80% very positive cases. It is a surprise for the parents: a child who has not spoken for 3–4 years suddenly starts making eye contact and producing syllables. For the family, this is a great event. The golden period is very important: if the child is under 5, progress is very good. After 5, progress is slower, but changes are still possible.
— What does the treatment process look like? How long does it take?
— It takes at least three weeks. The first week, we only stabilize the gut. Only after that do we move on to other processes. I use many methods: pulsed electromagnetic field therapy PEMF and low-intensity laser therapy. We work on improving the vagus nerve. As the vagus starts improving, things get better. On average, a child spends 3-5 hours a day at the clinic. Furthermore, one course here in Hyderabad is usually not enough. It needs to be repeated after six months.
— If this is a metabolic problem, can autism be fixed forever?
— Absolutely, yes. I stand by that. We are working with the metabolic root. It is not the easiest path; it takes time. Parents are usually exhausted. But after the first three weeks, they see the result, and then they bring other patients to us themselves.
— What conditions do you work with?
— Mostly it is the autism spectrum, ADHD, and learning disabilities. We have had patients with cerebral palsy and Down syndrome. In a child with Down syndrome, we solved GI tract issues, specifically Hirschsprung disease. My experience in radiology helped me a lot here.
— How does the application process for treatment work?
— My clinic operates on an outpatient basis, meaning parents and children stay in hotels and attend procedures daily. We have many good hotels, and there are many historical sites to see in Hyderabad. Usually, we conduct a video consultation before confirming the program. If help is needed with hotel booking, we assist with that.
The cost of the 3-week course is 5000 USD. To undergo treatment at Dr. Saxen’s clinic, make an application
